You don't need it if you use Trumpet's new Dialer capability...
I wrote a simple login script for it and it works great! It
will parse the IP address my system gives me and automatically
feed that address to all my clients along with my domain name
(which also changes each time I log in)
Give it a try...

What about the VCOMM.386 that comes with Windows for Workgroups 3.11? Is this
an improvement over the standard COMM.DRV? I've never seen anything written
about it.

I have the demo version and am quite happy with it as well, but I have one
question, what is your opinion of the newsreader in the full version? does
it support kill files and the like? all of the freeware news readers have
been dismal, if they even ran, the news reader is the only other part of the
package that I have any use for, but I suppose I could scrimp and save if it's
a decent reader.

All the rfc documents are at rs.internic.net and if you connect with a gopher
there is searching.

I would like to ask the same question. I get GOSLIP ver.1.1 to dial
and go through the logon script. It then loads TCPMAN with no complaints, but
I can't get anything to run afterwards.

Subject: Questions about Cybercom
I saw a post about the cybercom.drv replacement to more accurately increase
windows serial speeds. If it is just a driver, how does windows tell it that
you want to run the com port at higher than 19.2k??? There isn't any control
options if it is just a driver. I would like to get more information. Thanks.

It's in the set up menu: File, Setup, Signature file name.
Just type in a name of the DOS text file you want to include as your signature.

PC Week, in its review of various Winsock applications, rated Trumpet
Newsreader as one of the best -- among all shareware and commercial readers.
No, newsreaders that come with commercial TCP/IP stacks may not and usually
are not better.
To answer your question though, the newsreader in Chameleon 4.0 doesn't have
kill file support either. Most of its functionality match that of Trumpet
Newsreader. The main difference I saw was slightly prettier screen design and
layout.

First off, I'm using Trumpet Newsreader, 1.0 Rev B.
I've tried what you mention and it doesn't work for me. The only thing I can
get to work is if you start typing when NO *article* title list is displayed,
just *newsgroup* names, the first (alphabetically) newsgroup starting with the
first letter you type is highlighted. When an article title list for a
particular newsgroup is displayed and I start typing, nothing happens. What
am I doing wrong?
When I said "formal searching" ability, I meant that it is not a discretely
specified option on one of the pull down menus.
Even if what you say works, there is currently no way to search for all
articles in a given newsgroup that contain a specified keyword within the
*body* of the text of the articles, is there?
--Lance
P.S. What are the "trumpet.*" lists you mention? Mailing lists?
